Driving ASUN Policy

This is just too great to pass up:

Nevada Sagebrush ASUN Blog 5/6/2009

2:01:
Delaplain said accusations from anonymous sources, such as the blog Vis Lupi Est Grex, cannot be allowed to drive ASUN policy.

2:01:
"We can't let people who lack the courage to stand up for what they're saying tear down everything we're trying to do," Delaplain said.

2:02:
Speaker Geremia, as part of her report, echoed Delaplain's statements and said the senate would no longer allow anonymous statements to be read into the record.

2:03:
Geremia cited her authority to recognize speakers as giving her the ability to make such a restriction.

Thanks Director Delaplain! :-) We'll have further comments later.

  1. I get it. The people's representatives shouldn't do what the people want. Who cares if they're anonymous. Argue their points, not whether you know who they are. They seem very credible to me despite their anonymity.

  2. You know, I think I understand now that everyone in the ASUN Government basically thinks their shit doesn't stink. Any form of criticism or suggestion goes in one ear, and goes out the other.

I hope ASUN understands that with our current siutation, the consenquences of their actions on the senate floor will be even higher.

  3. basically like you thorn, except your turns complain about the way you smell.

    Being anonymous...so easy.

  4. I think that Thorny sucks because I do. I heard one time that he doesn't like dinosaurs and that he beats children with a stick at first sight. I know I have no proof of this but I would like the student government to do something about it.

As an anonymous member of the student body I would like to make accusations and claims against the actions of the student government and against individuals within the student government. Though my letter contains no specific references to violations or specific events, I would like it to be taken seriously. You as my representatives, should take everything I say to be complete, unbiased truth, even though you do not know who I am, what my motives may be, and I still have yet to say anything in my letter that can be proven or supported.

    Thank You,

    Anonymous

Right....so we should be taking all the claims made by anonymous sources (C&K, Vis Lupi, The V) to be complete and utter truth, served not by ulterior motives but by pure and honest individuals who feel so strongly that they wont even sign their name at the bottom of a document.

Anonymity is a crutch for those who cannot defend their claims or causes on their own. It is obvious that the people writing Vis Lupi have little to do with the current state of ASUN as charges are rarely, if ever, brought up based on the claims made by our anonymous crusaders. GRADUATE! LEAVE! STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ASUN THAT BEGAN IGNORING YOU BEFORE YOU EVER LEFT. Thank you for your time, your effort, your poorly written legislation, thank you, vis lupi, for putting in the extra effort.

  5. DOT:

I'm not a big fan of anonymity, and so my posts are signed with my name. I agree with what you say to some extent. Because I am in a rush:
    * we are not purely altruistic. We are stimulated and intrigued by observing, catching, and attempt to correct what we see as the abuses of power and illegal activities by ASUN officials and administrators.

Think of it being like birdwatching for student wonks.

    * I have a number of charges pending. I attempted to address some of these concerns through various avenues before arriving at this path. I would rather not be the person doing this, but who else has stepped up? I'm not willing to ignore $1+M in student fees spent without authorization--and if you are happy to do so, I pity you and anyone you represent (if you're a Senator).

    * If I had in my pocket every dollar ASUN appropriated from me since attending UNR, I would be able to buy myself a new laptop for graduation. When I think about it that way, it keeps me interested.

  6. ummm...who (the fuck) likes spending extra money???? lets take a pole, lets say, a senator pole. Senators who of you like wasting your money? Really? That mean? None? Wow. I thought you guys really liked that extra dollar of yours going to student fee's that suck? Really? You guys hate paying for tuition too? Really? Some of you have full time jobs?

I don't put my name on things because this is a anonymous bullshit outlet. Thank you, thank you very much.
