Enough with the Facebook messages!

I think I speak for most people right now when I say "STOP SENDING MESSAGES ABOUT VOTING ON FACEBOOK!"

Seriously.  We get it.  Today is Election day.  And everyone should vote, but come on!

On another note, remember that you don't have to vote for candidates.  You can leave a ballot blank (VP, Prez, or Senate).  Don't feel like you have to vote because there is a blank box.  Also, just because you GET to vote for 8 people in COLA, or 3 in Business, etc... doesn't mean you have to vote for that number of people.  If you only like 3 people in COLA, just vote for those three, and only those three.

And when all else fails... write in:

By the way, if you are voting today DON'T VOTE for the following people (S.T.A.R.T):

CABNR
  • Paul Sanford
Business
  • Nathan Devlin
  • Jane Glasgow
  • John Russell
Engineering
  • Barry Belmont
  • Travis Hagen
Liberal Arts
  • Mary Hunton
  • Matthew Maggy
Science
  • Tomsen Reed
  • Zachary Rees
UPDATE: Apparently Matthew Maggy is NOT a S.T.A.R.T Candidate.  The names for current S.T.A.R.T Candidates were taken from their official website.  But apparently they don't ask the candidates if they want to be part of the party.  So much for "honest" and "integrity."

I call on John Russell to update his website so as to not confuse voters!

  1. For what it's worth, I *am* voting for John Russell in COB. Zachary Rees is actually a pretty sharp guy, and I think would be of benefit to the ASUN Senate. Also, Matthew Maggy is apparently not a START candidate.

  2. The names were taken from unrstart.org today right before I posted this, so if Maggy isn't one of their candidates, they should update their website.

  3. Corinna...what a mistake to vote for John Russell. He is a total hypocrite.

  4. The guy (Russell) may be slightly moronic for not accepting reality on some of his positions, but the guy has balls. For that reason alone, people should vote for him. Will he be very successful? Probably not. But at least he'll try to do stuff, which is more than I can say for many senators, incumbents included.

  5. Oh, and on the subject of write-in votes, I say people should request paper ballots and do it. The Code does not explicitly prohibit write-ins, and a decent case could be made they should be counted.

  6. Megan: I would rather vote for someone who *wants* to be involved than someone who is a carbon-copy of the current Senate. Plus, he's likely to stir the pot, and I like that kind of approach.
