ASUN Summer Vacation

We here at Vis Lupi Est Grex hope that all the ASUN folks heading up to Tahoe for the retreat remember that the exciting weekend you're spending at the Lake is paid for from the pocket of the students, most of whom would just as soon elect not to pay their ASUN fees and use that money to enjoy a weekend at Tahoe themselves.

  1. This little "retreat" that they're having on my dime, is it violating the open meetings law? Last I checked no agenda on the website. Anyone know?

  2. I don't understand how no one fought to cut this. I mean, we are in a shaky economic situation. Everyone is tightening their belts, why can't the ASUN do that too?

    Bullshit, but whatever.

  3. Wow... all individuals listed above should really do their homework as to what is involved in the ASUN retreat. It is held at the State 4-H Camp, which is part of the University and very inexpensive compared to other locations. No meetings were held, Senate or otherwise, so no violation in NOML. The "retreat" was used to teach those new to ASUN about ASUN, set amazing goals, and learn how to better serve you the students.

  4. We have a new post exploring the issue of whether the Open Meeting Law applies to retreats. I hope our readers find it instructive.

To Anonymous: Perhaps you should do your homework as to when the Open Meeting Law applies and when it does not.

  5. Uh...In response to Eric. Where the hell were you? That's all START tried to do: cut the bs out of ASUN. Of course they failed hardcore, but still...several people did try to do something about this.

  6. haha, except that START muddled the facts to fit their own unfortunate string of logic...

There is a reason NOT A SINGLE START MEMBER WAS ELECTED.

And I am sorry, but can anyone explain to me why this is a big deal? Why is the retreat a bunch of bs?

  7. It's a waste of funds in a critical economic period.

  8. How so? Could you explain what they do on these retreats that are so wasteful?
