Daniel Clark for CLA

In our first post we stated that we would NOT be making any endorsements. This is not intended as an endorsement of a candidate. A student who has a justifiable claim to be appointed to Maggy's soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat, once the 77th Session of the Senate meets. Understand, we may not agree with Mr. Clark on all his positions or have any opinion about the merit of his candidacy.

With that said, when the new 77th Session of the Senate convenes for the first time on April 15th, they will consider what to do with the seat left vacant by Mr. (insert your favorite expletive) Maggy. Mr. Maggy sent a letter of resignation to the Senate, and from what we can tell he will be graduating and unable to serve out his entire term. While he may not have known this before he filed for his candidacy, he most certainly knew when, on March 12th, he drew cards for a tie. The fact that he did this knowingly just makes him a dickthere really isn't another way to put it. This would have been the perfect opportunity to say, "I won't draw, I am withdrawing." Had he done this, Daniel Clark would have won the card draw and been elected. But instead, he drew the higher card and is now selfishly resigning.

With this in mind, in the interest of equity, the 77th Session should appoint Mr. Clark to his rightfully deserved seat. Other people certainly have the option to apply, but the Senate should appoint Mr. Clark because I guarantee that no other candidate could claim they received 97 votes by students.

There is only one student who should be appointed as the 8th CLA Senator, and that is Mr. Daniel Clark.
