The 76th Session of the Senate cannot accept the resignation of 77th Session Senator-elect Maggy. Only the 77th Session can. It hasn't begun yet. The correspondence must be received by the Secretary and kept until the 77th Session convenes. Just thought you'd like to know.

Fortunately, this is likely (and hopefully) to be your last failure in office.

UPDATE
I was wrong. Looks like the Senate won't be adjourning sine die next week, as is required under the rules and precedent.

Also, looks like they'll try to pass a bunch of ill-advised legislation at their last meeting (agenda).
